ABLE2 Grow – Digital Literacy: Essential Skills and Programs from the Neil Squire Society

Join ABLE2 and the Neil Squire Society for Grow Series education session on Digital Literacy for persons living with disabilities and their caregivers. The session will provide an overview of assistive technology and accessibility tools in existing widely used software (such as Microsoft Office, Mac, and Windows).

Registrants will also learn about the Neil Squire Society’s Distance Computer Comfort program, a Canada-wide program that pairs volunteer tutors with people with disabilities for one-on-one computer training. This program is free of charge; clients only need access to a computer and to participate.

About Gordon: Gordon Watt is Distance Training Coordinator at Neil Squire. With over 25 years of experience in IT customer and end-user technical support, Gordon is a practiced professional in the field of disabilities. Since 2011, through his work coordinating two Canada-wide programs, Distance Computer Comfort and Digital Jumpstart programs, Gordon has been very active in helping to improve the lives of the clients he works with.

His primary focus is to provide training and technical support to the clients receiving AT solutions, and assisting fellow Neil Squire staff resolve technical issues, when and where they arise.

The FASD Symposium is Eastern Canada’s largest annual gathering of everyone connected to the FASD community. This one-day interactive, educational event, with content available in English and French, attracts 400+ people each year. Our theme for 2023 was ‘It is Time to Change". A day that will bring together advocates and researchers and creative ideas about effecting change in systems, identifying existing gaps and suggesting actions we need to take to support people (and their caregivers) in the FASD community.
